I am job.

I was offered and accepted a position at Rasmussen & Associates/Beavercreek Marketing here in Grand Island. Initially I will be learning how to do the branding of the learning center modules that are sold to the financial institutions the company has as clients and tailor them to their prefernces/look/feel. i will be helping do the bulk of that while a co-worker goes on maternity leave in roughly 6 weeks. If things work to their liking I will then be doing this amongst other items yet to be determined.

Today was my first day and I think I will transition quite easily into the position. I feel very confident I will pick up how to do things quickly and get going. My co-worker Sara is really cool. Actually, everyone there seems to be really laid back and nice. I have a great feelng about this new chapter in my life and am excited to see what I am able to contribute to this company.

I am also glad to get back into a regular schedule and be working. It was nice to have the time off I did and I enjoyed swimming and hanging out with my friends more often (and on "school nights" no less!), but I like my routine and schedule. Anyone who knows me can attest to that fact.

So, YAY for moi! I am stoked to say the least. ::insert big cheesy grin::

Downtown Aurora Fire

I took a friend to Aurora to get a dress fitting for her sister's wedding. When we arrived we thought there was a car accident because the block the dress shop was on was blocked off and there were fire and rescure vehicles. Then we saw some light smoke coming from the top of the fidelity building on the southeast corner and decided it must be a fire. We parked and went to see if the bridal shop was closed. There were a lot of folks in the square's park watching the firefighters at work. They had evacuated the whole block, so my friend wasn't going to get her fitting done obviously.

We soon saw the firefighters removing their hoses. Apparently the roof was collapsing so they would have to fight the fire from the outside. A firefighter that was on the 3rd story took his axe and smashed out windows. Once they let that oxygen in the flames began to really pick up and became visible from where we were standing. You could feel the heat from the flames as they grew larger and larger. One of the trucks began dousing the building with some foam substance.

We decided to leave and heard at the gas station that the north side of the building had collapsed. I didn't hear if anyone was hurt, but hopefully that is not the case.

Here is some footage I took of the fire:

Mila and Baby Zoe

My friend Monica's cat Mila had a kitten a few weeks ago. She only had ONE. Isn't that odd? It looks just like Mila. Monica's friend John is going to give the kitten a home when it is ready and he has named her Zoe. She is adorb.

Here is a video I took last week. We were watching the TV show "Fear Itself" on NBC. It is a pretty interesting show. A different story every episode. The one you hear was called "Eater" about a cannibal prisoner and he was after the rookie cop and bit her hence the agonizing grunts and screams. LOL!

Thank You!

Big huge thanks to those of my co-workers, friends and family who have taken the time out of their lives to reach out to me during the last week. If even just to say hi, how are ya doin' or hang in there. It means a lot and shows me a lot.

Keep me posted on any positions you hear of that might be of interest to moi.

Watermelon Mystery

I left my apartment one evening to go out on the town. I found this on the landing. ???? When I came back home waaaaay later that night it was still there. ???? The next day it was gone. ???? I guess maybe someone didn't want to carry it up that last flight of stairs until they rested a bit...errr...uhh...something like that????

Screaming Ovation Deserved

Umm...how good did Johnny Depp look at the MTV Awards tonight? WOWZAWEETAHH!!! And the audience agreed with me. Of course it is rad he won the awards that he did because he is more than a pretty face, he is a bad arse actor.

Our Island Is Still Here

::get the Lost reference? ha!::

Last night we had some gnarly weather blast through the area. Kearney (40 miles west of Grand Island) had extensive damage. My friends who live there are all okay and nobody was hurt or had any damage.

It came towards G.I. and we braced for impact and all we received was a down pour. Not even a lot of wind (at least where I live). I was watching the sky out my patio door and I saw the batch of clouds that could have turned into a tornado passing above me. They weren't menacing. Just low and swirling about. Luckily nothing dropped out of the mass. ::phew::

Then it hit Aurora (20+ miles east of Grand Island) and did some damage. People I know there are also okay, but their friends weren't so lucky as their highly damaged home was featured on the cover of our paper today. READ THE STORY-ARTICLE LINK

The important thing is no deaths or injuries were reported.
We have survived the nastiness again. YAY!
